Advancement
in systems in all respects acts as a fuel to the thrust of change. This
advancement is to make life easy and to increase human comfort at home and at
work.
Thus, the competence to match with the international standards is the need of
the hour and I,therefore, wish to acquire in-depth aptitude in stream of engineering; to
learn and expand my horizons of knowledge and satiate my
curiosity in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am very eager to continue my academic pursuit in
this field.

I
finished my schooling with 84% marks from St.George Convent
School. I made small projects such as solar cooker and windmill during school. My respect for education and inclination
towards applied science drove me to opt for mathematics, physics and chemistry in my higher secondary
education. I also took Computer Science as an optional subject during high school
and got to learn about the fundamentals of computers and programming languages
like C and C++. As a student in high school, I felt that Engineering would be the
area, which would give me an
opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are applied to
create technology for practical and real purposes. Electronics
and Communication Engineering
was a direct consequence of my conviction. I secured 88.66% in 12th
and these grades helped me in getting admission into Bachelor of Technology
program at  DAV Institute of Engineering
and Technology.

My undergraduate
studies exposed me to a stimulating academic environment where software and
hardware learning go hand in hand. It gave me a wide exposure to numerous
subjects like Digital Circuits and Logic Designs, Electromagnetic
field, Control systems, Electrical measurements, Linear Integrated Circuits, Digital
Signal Processing, Power systems, Micro processors & Micro Controllers,
Embedded systems, Operating Systems, Data Structures, Computer networks,
Optical fiber communications and Wireless communications, et cetera. In
college, I always enjoyed long hours in the labs. It gave me the opportunity to
correlate theory to practical phenomena. My hardwork and dedication towards
studies enabled me to secure 80.9% in my engineering.

During initial
semesters of my undergraduate study, in order to have clear understanding of
electronic devices I made several projects like Regulated Power Supply and
Water level indicator using Circuit Maker software and basic electronic
components such as resistors, diodes, transformers, transistors, Printed
Circuit Board, LED, Buzzers etc. I always had keen interest and curiosity in
learning latest technologies and trends going on in the outside world. Eventually,
owing to the soaring demand and scope of Fiber-optic communications, I did my
post second year training in Optical Fiber Communications at RailTel Corporation of India Ltd.,
Chandigarh, one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in
India, where I got the opportunity to work in the real time environment and
gained immense exposure to industry. During this training, I learnt how light
can be effectively used as a transmission medium in telecommunication,
different types of optical fiber cables currently in use, how splicing is done,
use of various instruments like OTDR to detect problems with existing cables,
different multiplexing techniques such as WDM, CWDM, DWDM etc. available for
achieving greater transmission capacity and so on.

In the third year of my
engineering studies, I was introduced to the subjects like wireless communication
systems, digital communication systems and wireless sensor networks. These
subjects inculcated in me vast knowledge about cellular technology and
networks. In the same year, I submitted a project based on Intelligent mailbox
system using RFID and GSM technology. This
project was aimed to build a system which
can notify the arrival of courier or a postal mail to a particular person. The
project was built using AT89S52
microcontroller which was interfaced
with RFID and GSM module and each courier or post was assigned a unique RFID
card. The RFID reader present in the mailbox used to read the RFID card and
fetch address details and the same information was sent to the authorized
person to whom the post box belongs. An LCD was also interfaced in the project
which displayed the status of the system.For this project, I
worked in team of three members and the programming part was done using
Embedded C.

In addition to this, I
would like to mention about my final year training which I did in JAVA at GTB Infotech Pvt. Ltd., Jalandhar. The
duration of this training was 6 months in which I learnt core as well as
advance java along with various frameworks like Hibernate and Spring MVC. I
prepared a JAVA web application on Online Education and Quiz in which I used
JAVA, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML, CSS etc. The key features of this web
application were that we can also find tutors of different subjects who are
residing in our preferred location, to learn various subjects and take tests
online for free. This project was well received and applauded by my teachers
and I secured good grades in the training semester. Besides the college
academics, I was actively involved in the extra-curricular activities. I was
the captain of my college Chess Team and my team won two gold medals in two
consecutive years under my captaincy at PTU inter-college chess tournament. I
was also a member of organizing team at college during techfest and
successfully organized and participated in various technical events.

I believe that the
ultimate key to success in life is the knowledge that a person gains from
education along with the skills and abilities that one builds up with practical
experience and conceptual understanding. I want to
understand the intricacies in the challenging field of electrical engineering
collaborated with computer science and its allied applications. Moreover, most
of the remarkable developments emerge in Canada and are widely spreading across
the globe. I also realized that the syllabus offered at Concordia University is
designed to face the demands of the present day industry and the faculty
members are highly educated and facilities provided to students are
appreciable. Keeping all these things in mind, I
have come to a conclusion that the Master in Engineering program offered by
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at your esteemed university
is excellently structured to match my requirements, which would definitely equip
me with comprehensive and
specialized skills in all aspects of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
