Michael a young age, Jackson never had the chance

Michael Joseph Jackson, also known as the “King of Pop” was born August 29th, 1958. He was an entertainer, musician and a dancer. One of the most influential entertainers of all times. Michael was an icon of pop culture for his own style of fashion and dance moves. He became a part of the music industry at the young age of 7, Michael made his debut alongside his brothers in the band the Jackson 5. This was the start of his career, which eventually led to a solo career starting in 1971. Beginning his career at such a young age, Jackson never had the chance to live a normal childhood. He was always rehearsing with his family or on tour with the group. He decided that in 1988, he was going to recreate his ideal childhood dream in California. Neverland was the name given to the amusement park, attracting many kids over the years. Although he seemed to be living the dream, throughout the years Michael hid a dark secret that he soon revealed for the first time on the Oprah Winfrey show. Jackson also underwent many surgeries to change his appearance, which over the years tabloids began to paint him an extremely unfavourable light. Jackson was to perform in a major comeback concert titled “This is it”. On June 25th, 2009, he collapsed in his home and was pronounced dead later that night. This tragedy was unexpected and touched people worldwide. Michael is a legend who will never be forgotten.”We had him,” stated Queen Latifah at his memorial held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Jackson 5Michael was born into a large family in Gary, Indiana. He has three sisters: Rebbie, La Toya and Janet as well as six brothers: Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Brandon and Randy. His mother, Katherine Esther Scruse, married in 1949, was the clothing designer for the Jackson 5. His father Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson believed that his sons had the talent to make it in the music industry. Without any hesitations he formed the group “The Jackson 5”. After performing in many school talent shows, the boys were noticed and took their careers farther. The group had many hits such as ABC, Corner Of The Sky, Dancing Machine, I Want You Back, and The Love You Save. Michael lead the group to fame and in 1971 at the age of 13, he began his solo career.Father and Son RelationshipMichael and his father had a very unsettling relationship. The ongoing feud between father and son began early in Michael’s childhood. From the age of seven until his death, he had been in a recording studio, producing new hits with his brothers. The recording studio was across the street from a park. Michael used to watch the kids play, leaving him teary-eyed. He never had the chance to play with toys and hangout with friends. Jackson stated that his only friends were his brothers because he never had the chance to meet kids his age and do the things he wanted. Michael’s father would both physically and emotionally hurt him. During rehearsals his father would stand with a belt in his hand and if any of his sons were to mess up a dance move or not hit the correct note they would be whipped. That was not all. Jackson was also pushed up against walls and verbally abused and called “ugly”. This caused Michael to be very self-conscious of himself pushing him to do many of the things he did throughout his life. Michael did not leave anything in his will for his father, showing the world that the bond and connection was not there. Michael had difficulties talking about his past as seen in the TV broadcast in 2003, and came forward about his father’s abuse for the first time on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Jackson had a disturbing childhood. He had to put it all aside and continue doing the thing he loved most, which was making music. The Public EyeMichael has been in the spotlight ever since he was seven years old. As he grew older, his appearance underwent many transformations. Michael had suffered from vitiligo, a common skin disorder mostly found in darker skin types such as African-Americans. This abnormality is caused by a lack of pigmentation, creating white patches all over the body. Michael’s dermatologist confirmed that he had to lighten his skin to decrease the visibility of the patches. He also applied white makeup to hide the patches that were still visible. He had many surgeries to alter the way he looked, as many celebrities have these surgeries done because they have the money to do so and the industry supports it. He disliked the way he looked and was very self-conscious about what other people thought of him. This was only the beginning for Michael. He was constantly under the eye of the media for all of his actions. He had a strong love for animals, especially his chimpanzee Bubbles. When he purchased this exotic animal, the public began to view him as crazy. Many other acts such as dangling his nine month old son, Prince Michael Jackson II, out the window. He was soon then given the nickname “Blanket”. He later apologized for his actions and admitted he made a terrible mistake, and had no explanation for what he did. Many tabloids are filled with false articles and headlines. Not everything is believable, such as when Michael was said to have purchased the bones of John Merrick, who was with many deformities . Leading the public to believe that he was sick minded. Getting him the nickname “Wacko-Jacko”. The true story was that Michael kept the bones of Joseph Merrick, also known as “Elephant Man,” after putting in endless hours of charitable work for the children with deformities. The paparazzi can make a believable story out of any picture or piece of information they want to portray to sell the magazine. Michael had faced the most terrible stories and had very few chances to explain his side of things. Child Sexual Abuse Allegations The allegations started in 1993, when Michael was accused of sexual abuse by a 13-year-old boy, Jordan Chandler and his father Evan who Michael has known for years. Jordan told the court that he touched him inappropriately making him feel uncomfortable. It was said that Evan’s goal was to get money from Michael. The Chandlers walked away with 22 million dollar settlement and Michael walked away free of any charges but was left traumatized by all the obstacles he had to face throughout this trial. Michael’s second child abuse allegation was in 2003, when he was accused of talking with a 13-year-old boy about having a sleepover at the Neverland Ranch. Jackson was charged with seven counts of child molestation as well as two counts of intoxication to the boy . Five months later, Michael was declared not guilty as there was not enough proof. Michael became dependant on drugs and lost a lot of weight during his trial days as he suffered from public humiliation and emotional disorder. Michael Jackson died from the combination of drugs in his body, with the most significant drugs being the anesthetic propofol and the anxiolytic lorazepam. Less significant drugs found in Jackson’s body were midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine, and ephedrine.NeverlandNeverland is an amusement park in Santa Barbara County, California. It was every kids dream and that’s the way Michael wanted it to be viewed by children. Never having got the chance to grow up, Michael decided to name the ranch Neverland, after the movie Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up. The park was filled with rides, games and also a zoo. After struggling with finances the park closed sometime in 2006. Neverland was a place where Michael felt he could relive his childhood, the one he never had.
